Welcome to the Garrett County Planning & Land Development Office
Planning, Zoning and Licensing Division

This office regulates Zoning Administration, Subdivision Administration, Licensing Issues, Land Preservation, Sensitive Area Regulation, Comprehensive Planning and Mapping Services. For more information on these departments, click on the links below.

The primary function of the Office of Planning & Land Development is to:

• maintain, update and implement the County's Comprehensive Development Plan with the direction of the County Planning Commission
• prepare studies and assist the County Commissioners in developing policies with regard to land use, transportation, population forecasts (Census) and proposed regulations.
• review re-zoning requests and
• coordinate with State, local and Federal agencies to fulfill implementation of policies and funding opportunities.
